All about Chase.

My due date is rapidly approaching which, for some reason, I have had mixed emotions about.  When I was pregnant with Chase, I COULD NOT WAIT another minute to hold my sweet baby! With this pregnancy, I find myself a little sad sometimes thinking that Chase and I won't have "just us" time anymore.  Our whole world is going to change and I can't believe that the past 18 months have gone by so quickly for the both of us. I am extremely excited to hold our baby and trust that a mother's heart will grow to fit her growing family, but I still want to document everything about CHASE for this post. I know he might feel a little neglected in the coming months and I just want to remember everything about this sweet time in his life.

Chase has started to sleep in until about 8 or 8:30 which is extremely unexpected because he used to be such a regular "7 AM" kind of a kid. We absolutely love it, but Chad and Chase don't get to spend as much time together anymore because Chad goes to work anytime between 8 and 8:30. :(  Chase absolutely loves breakfast foods. Pancakes, fruit, yogurt, and cold cereal are his top picks.  He WILL NOT let me feed him anymore. Due to his new found independance, I always remove his shirt before I hand over the food and eating utensil to him.  It's a messy business, but he gets MOST of the food in his mouth.

Chase absolutely LOVES our dog, KC. He loves to climb on him, pull his ears, chase him around the house, and give him doggie treats. I am so glad that KC is such a good dog to kids!

Since it is so hot right now, I purchased a slide for our playroom.  Chase loves to go up and down on it all day long! He is very into climbing right now.

Chase has recently learned how to give "kisses". It is so cute! He puckers his lips and smacks one on me anytime I ask. I fully take advantage of this because I know it won't last forever.

He also has started to really enjoy books.  I have always read to him, but he's never been interested before.  Now he will go pick one out, sit on my lap, and help me turn the pages.  His absolute FAVORITE is his "Goodnight Moon" book that is a recording of Grandpa reading it to him.  We read it every night, but it isn't enough.  Everytime we go into his room, he runs to the bookshelf and points to it.

Chase absolutely loves water.  We have a little swimming pool for him out back and he loves to splash, get wet, and "blow bubbles" (that is mostly him getting his face wet and snorting up water).  I am glad he is such a little fish!

Chase's vocabulary is growing rapidly.  Some words include shoes, light, mama, dada, dog, ball, no, yes, and he "jabbers" all day long.  I love when he scrunches up his face and puckers his lips as he says "no no" and points to the stuff he's not allowed to touch (dog bowls, decor, etc.)

Lastly, Chase is pretty shy.  He doesn't like adults very much, but likes to play with kids.  I'll admit, I like it when he snuggles close to me when he's timid around new people.  He has such a sweet personality and I love seeing him grow every day.  He definitely has a strong-willed side and we've been struggling with eating and throwing food. A lot. In fact, every day.  But, my patience has been tested and I know that it is just a phase.  In fact, everything Chase does is "just a phase", but instead of hoping it'll pass, I have found myself hoping he will stay like this a little bit longer.  The days go by slowly, but the years pass by quickly.

I know that Chase will be such a wonderful big brother and won't even remember this time when he WASN'T a big brother, but I will.  I will remember every smile, every hug, every kiss.  No matter how much he grows over the years, he will always be my baby.
